Dear Anicka 2025

Share

I’m so proud of you.

My earliest digital journaling was in 2016 when I started writing Dear Anicka. Throughout the year I would fill in a little summary of the last period. The ebbs and flow could be read throughout the document. It was a Microsoft Word document for context. I would do that for a few years and then I would get back to writing physical journal entries, along with phone notes, etc.

A year ago I started Journal Entries of a Cultured Grenadian Girl – 30th August 2024 with Welcome. What a year! 2024 on it’s own was quite eventful for me, but you see that period following 30th August 2024 to 30th August 2025, whew!. There was so much events that if you told me these would occur a year ago I would not believe you. What a year!

I’m so proud of you Anicka. You matured, you were brave, bold and beautiful. You tried new things, pushed yourself, set boundaries, took accountability, advocated for yourself, loved, laughed, played, had fun, let yourself breathe, rest, cry, grieve, release.

I’m so proud of you.

I’ve been re-reading my journal, phone notes and even “my first blog” on Tumblr during the year and I can see the ebbs and flows that I endured. Some were hard to re-read and confront. It helped me validate my experience, however. It helped me acknowledge the emotions I have felt. It helped me practice compassion with myself. This life has been a journey.

It’s been a year since I’ve started making a more active effort to document this journey. This year has had so many new experiences, so much growth, so much I feel like I’ve also returned to myself.

There’s still so much to come, but until then, cheers on so much accomplished. Celebrate you! 🥂

With so much love,
